Provider-navigation resources

You do not need to know the diagnosis before asking for help. The right first contact depends on the concern, urgency, location, age, insurance, and whether medical, nutrition, mental-health, feeding-skill, swallowing, or school assessment is needed.

Provider-fit questions

  • Do you routinely work with children or adolescents in this age range?
  • What experience do you have with ADHD, ARFID, pediatric feeding disorder, swallowing concerns, anxiety, autism, or other relevant co-occurring conditions?
  • Which problems do you assess, and which require referral to another professional?
  • Do you assess swallowing safety when relevant, or coordinate with someone who does?
  • How do you coordinate with the pediatrician, school, dietitian, therapist, dentist, or other clinicians?
  • What are your insurance, referral, waitlist, language, telehealth, transportation, and geographic limitations?
  • How do you protect safe foods, hydration, growth, dignity, and the child's perspective?

Access checklist

When looking for a service, you can ask about pediatric age range; experience with ARFID or feeding concerns and swallowing competence where relevant; referral and insurance requirements; in-network coverage, prior authorization, and out-of-network costs; telehealth and language access; transportation; waitlist; and who will coordinate the referral. This is a navigation checklist, not a provider rating or guarantee of access.

Limits of directories

A directory listing does not prove credentials, pediatric experience, ARFID or feeding-disorder expertise, swallowing competence, insurance participation, current openings, or treatment quality. Verify details directly and ask what the provider does not assess.
